"Hey Ocean!" (Said the Whale)

Just my luck: last night I got to see both Hey Ocean! AND Said the Whale - two amazing Vancouver bands!

My night started off with the dreaded challenge of, you guessed it, finding parking. To my surprise, it was a lot easier than I thought! I ended up taking refuge in a large parking lot in the heart of downtown Vancouver, paying $15 for the late night parking fee - a price worth paying, I might add. (I'm not too fond of taking the Skytrain this late at night.) Walking around downtown at that time was pretty intense. The downstairs/inner levels of Robson Square were closed off due to the large number of people that were already inside, so many were left to party and celebrate on the streets in their red and white (or other national colours). Anyways, since I was forced to wait outside, all was good as I was able to see 'Ignite the Dream' from where I was standing, as opposed to downstairs. The colours, the lights, the flames, the dressed-up zipline riders, the music... it was a sight to see!

Afterwards, I rushed off to GE Plaza to see the bands play. Already, all the seated spots were filled and so I squished through the crowds until I made it up to the front on the left side of the stage. Although the light decorations were kind of a distraction, I still greatly enjoyed myself at the concerts! Crowd surfing, moshing, lighters and hands swaying..

Hey Ocean! and Said the Whale: you guys were great!
